Mr. Müller, Our Patient from Germany

Our patient from Germany, Hamburg came this week for hair transplantation and Rhinoplasty surgery in our hospital in Istanbul, Turkey. Our patient told us earlier that he will be coming alone and it will be the first time in Istanbul. Our patient’s name is B. Müller and he told us that he came to Turkey 5 years ago for a trip to Cappadocia, Turkey. B. Müller told us that he liked the trip very much because the people are very friendly and the food was tasty. B. Müller was a little bit afraid because Istanbul is a great city. We told our patient that we are with him through the whole procedure and the visit to Turkey.

We gave our patient every information he needed about the procedures and where he will stay while he is in Istanbul. Our patient told us that he was satisfied that we gave him the information he needed to know before starting the procedure, as example that he cannot wear glasses for a few months after the Rhinoplasty surgery.
Our patient came on November 5th. This year. Our patient arrived on the Airport Ataturk, Istanbul. Our driver was waiting for him and picked him up. Our patient told our driver that he was a bit hungry after the 3-hour flight. I told our driver to have a seat with him and eat a meal before coming. Our driver brought our patient to the hotel after they ate together. Our driver helped our patient with his luggage and his check-in. We went to the hotel to meet our patient and we had a small chat about his journey to Turkey. We told our patient that the hair transplantation will start tomorrow and that our translator will pick him up tomorrow morning at 07:30
.
Our translator picked our patient up at 7:30 from the hotel. The hotel is nearby our hospital, approximately 300 meters and 3 minutes walking. Our translator sat for a breakfast with our patient. It’s important that you eat your breakfast before having the operation. We always check our patients for low or high blood pressure or blood sugar. It’s possible that your blood sugar will be lower if you do not eat. Low blood sugar is also called hypoglycemia. This can cause confusion, double vision, blurred vision, hunger, anxiety, tremor, heart palpitation, and increased perspiration. We took our patient to our hair transplantation floor in our hospital. We first took a blood test of our patient. Hepatitis A, B,C, and HIV is tested through this blood test. The results came out negative and this means that our patient has none of these diseases. Our patient made the payment at the reception and went to the room to get his hair shaved. Our doctor drew the hairline on our patient and together with the patient we agreed on the hairline. After that our patient went in the sterile room fort he hair transplantation.
2 days later, our patient came to our hospital to have a consult with our Plastic Surgeon for the Rhinoplasty surgery. Our doctor and our patient talked to each other about the way the nose will look after the surgery. We organized the room in the hospital for the patient to stay for one night and we started the patient admission papers. A few hours later our patient went in for surgery.

Our patient felt ready to make an adventure in Istanbul for the coming few days. Our patient felt good and did only have a little bit trouble breathing through his nose (very normal). But it was okay because he was used by breathing through his mouth. Our driver picked the patient from the hotel and today the plan was to have a Bosphorus tour with the boat. Istanbul is well known for the Bosphorus. The Asian and the European Side of Turkey is bonded with each other by the Bosphorus Bridge. We wanted that the patient would first see This amazing place. We bought our tickets at the kiosk and we stepped in the boat with all the other tourists from different countries. Korean, American, English, Arabic an even citizens of Turkey from other cities. We made a tour for 2,5 hours. Our patient was very amazed by the view and all the other beautiful historical palaces and buildings. We told our patient about the history of these amazing places. It’s important that you know the story behind these beautiful places. This makes it even more beautiful in our eyes. After the tour, we went to Istiklal Street in Taksim, Beyoglu. This Street is known for the shops and stores and the nostalgic tram. We went to a rooftop restaurant and we had dinner with a beautiful view. We could see the Asian side of Istanbul and the Bosphorus sea. After the dinner, we ate the well-known dessert künefe. Our patient liked the künefe but found it a little bit different that the dessert was sweet and had melted cheese in it. Our patient wanted to buy some little souvenir presents for his wife and children back in Germany. There was a little bazaar on the corner of Istiklal Street and we went there to buy some souvenirs. Mr. Müller bought some keychains with the well-known ‘Nazar’ sign. nazar boncuğu ile ilgili görsel sonucuWe advised our patient to buy some fresh lokum. We did let him have a taste and he liked the taste very much. He bought different ones: rose flavor, pistachio, pomegranate, strawberry, and lemon. Mr. Müller told us that the texture was very different, jelly-ish.
Our stomach was so full that we had to walk a little bit to feel a bit more relieved. galata kulesi ile ilgili görsel sonucuWe decided to walk towards the famous Galata Tower. It was evening and the sky was darker. It would be a good opportunity t to see the beautiful lights shining from the Galata Tower. We walked through the narrow streets with handmade clothing shops to the Galata Tower. The streets were a bit steep and that made it a bit harder to walk, but it was definitely a good exercise to burn the food we ate that evening. We arrived at the tower and we made a lot of pictures together. Normally it’s possible to go into the tower and walk the stairs up to the highest point and the restaurant in the tower. From the balcony of the tower, you can see Istanbul in a panoramic view. The tower was unfortunately closed because it was late. But our patient was still very happy because he saw the tower from nearby and he learned more about the history of this tower.
It was late and we decided to go back home. We walked towards the car and we drove back to the hotel where our patient is staying. We chatted in the car about our patient’s experience with the trip. Our patient was very amazed by the sights he saw and told us that the food was very delicious in Turkey. Mr. Müller went to Turkish restaurants in Germany but he told us that the food here in Turkey is even better than the food, meat, vegetable in Germany. He was surprised by the different spices that were used and how much Turkish tea people drink.
